So I went to the Syndicate gathering in NY that focused on media syndication, specifically RSS and blogging. It was an interesting collection of attendees, with many of the SME’s there. It was good to listen to the likes of Tim Bray and Doc Searls (as well as many others) dicsuss this phenomenon and how the business around them will likely evolve.

A few quotes or thoughts I noted from the sessions, in no particular order:

The challenge to large companies is allowing individual voices to speak freely.

Speaking to the world ultimately makes you better at listening to the world.

Consumption is the key for media companies – an opportunity to reach into new markets and to stay in touch with consumers.

The Internet is a place where the demand side supplies itself – if you don’t offer your product/service in the manner consumers desire someone else will for you.

Tim Bray spoke on his work creating the public disclosure policy (for blogs, etc.) at Sun.
