Outlook tasks

Well to start off my process of managing my time more efficiently I looked at websites and read about some of the more popular mantras. In the end I have decided to start small and use tools that already have a familiar feel to them.

So I decided to test out using Outlook tasks as a way to manage my to-do list. Now, I have a Blackberry and use Outlook each and every day so from the start I have a way to enter new items while at my desk and while out and about. The Blackberry synchronizes with the server so when I sit back at my desk anything new is there.

So far so good.

Of course this hasn’t helped me actually accomplish more each day, but now I have a central list and can start a routine to check this list every day for what needs to be done.

I have picked up a few tips along my readings and will be using those to help — my favorite so far was also a simple one. In approaching a task if you can complete it in under 5 minutes go ahead and do it then, don’t add it to any list. You get the satisfaction on completing a task and your list doesn’t grow. Something simple but not always obvious when you are in the middle of a busy day.
