Well for the first time in years (outside of the family vacations) I checked my bag today.  It was nice to stroll through the airport without a bag in tow.  It was amazing that given all the press on banned liquids, etc. that today I still saw several people try to walk on the plane with coffee, sodas, water, etc.

All in all I would still prefer to have my bag with me, since it means only taking one bag rather than two but if the restrictions hold on what you can take on board I expect more people will start checking bags again.

I can’t remember the last time I noticed empty overhead storage on a plane, but today there was plenty.
