What happened to GNoTE

March 26th, 2008 · No Comments

Way back in late 2006 Guy Kawasaki and a few Technology Evangelists started GNoTE (Global Network of Technology Evangelists) to help “foster technology evangelism and help establish best practices for technology outreach in the industry.”

GNoTE is a gathering place for technology evangelists - we provide a network of similar people in similar professions, and events that are interesting to both evangelists and the industry at large. And we provide a way for evanglists to learn from each other and leverage each other, and keep an industry-wide perspective even while concentrating on a demanding specific domain.

That sounds like a lofty goal and unfortunately they seem to have stalled. I can’t find a recent reference to the group and while they did have an event in Dec. ‘06 there has been nothing since then.

The only thing I can find on their site is a mailing list (which I joined out of curiosity) that has 230 members. The technology role has been around for a while and most agree started with Apple. In the last decade it has grown in awareness but I still think many companies hesitate to embrace such a role.

Note:Along the way I had to edit the Wikipedia page to correct a link to the GNoTE site — don’t you just love those fake sites that link to unrelated content.
