I have been using Crashplan for a long time now and have been very happy and comfortable knowing that my data is safe and secure both locally and online.
With Time Machine coming in to the picture late last year I added that in as well since Crashplan doesn’t do a local backup (they say it is on the way) - only online and to other computers (free client). I checked back today and they have a nice comparison on the differences between the two options.
I was reminded yesterday that there is really no excuse ignoring the risk of a hard drive failure. A friend and colleague is still working to get irreplaceable pictures off a drive that crashed last year. Hopefully the data can be recovered but it was enough for me to check up again that I had everything safely redundant on my end.
