SportsNetwork as collateral damage

Well the weekend wasn’t too busy but this morning the SportsNetwork site was hacked and then taken down as they try to regain control.

The Sports Network website and other major news sites have been hacked by a political entity from China, and as a result are temporarily unavailable. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope to be back up and running as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Sports Network Management [currently on http://sports.si.cnn.com/]

While not one of our sites directly they do have a connection to SI.com which is apparent from the URL.  So it suggests this could be another interesting week.

It is unfortunate that these attacks will only serve to further the bad discourse as we head towards the Olympics.  TechCrunch has more.
