cnn relaunchWell we are off and running. The site is moving out today. The shot was from Joey – but the setup is mine. Nice to see that the new site still renders on the iPhone.

The new homepage isn’t out just yet but should be soon. We made a few changes based on feedback so hopefully everyone will appreciate that we are listening.

Update: New homepage is live (12:45pm)

iPhone My very cool Uncle calls tonight and says “I have a new iPhone” so of course we invited him to come over to help  activate his new toy.  He is cool but he doesn’t have a PC so he did need our help.

We activated it pretty quickly and then began to play. The typing is the hard part to pick up – but everything else comes pretty naturally. It feels better in the hand than I expected and they have taken the mobile interface forward about 5 years.

Also as expected the packaging is slick.

bb-curve-att.jpgWell after the last firmware update on my 8525 it hasn’t been as stable and I can’t get rid of that annoying startup sound (or get used to charging it every night). That combined with its more limited ability to handle email with rules and alerts made it easy to say Go and jump back to the new BB coming out tomorrow.

Just waiting to see how long it will take to get one in my hands.

Well the new data card came in today so now I am global with my MacBook Pro. Cingular clearly states they don’t support Macs but with a little searching I found out it would work. I just went to their (Option’s – not Cingular’s) site and picked up Version 1.2.0 (r57) of the GlobeTrotter Connect software (note their page lists an older version but the download is the latest) and entered in the Cingular settings and I connected with no problem.

Now I just need to leave the comforts of work or home to test it out.

Well the Apple ones at least. I was watching (well reloading since they don’t stream the keynotes these days) as the products were announced and must say they know how to announce products. Other than the new Airport Extreme I am not sure on whether I will purchase anything announced yesterday, but can’t wait to see an iPhone in person.

So tonight I was working away on the bed – a rather typical way to end the evening – and the MacBook Pro just died. I had only started working so I new the battery wasn’t dead and in checking the battery it said it was full.

I hit the power button and tried again – it started up for a few seconds but was gone just as quick. So I plugged in, did a quick search, and found this.

Looks like I will make a trip to the Apple store to get a new battery.

Update:  Well it wasn’t a trip that got me the new battery but the next day it arrived on the doorstep so at least Apple got to it quickly and sent it out the same day I submitted my issue.
